Hello,

I have a BMW E30 M3 shell (engine, box and ECU gone). I am looking for some advice on transplanting an E36 M3 Evo Engine into the shell or perhaps a turbo or M5 version. The body of this car is immaculate and is a project which will produce a stunning end product. I am living in Ireland am interested in advice from any other BMW enthusiasts regarding this, any ideas of where to source an engine??

Any help or referrals greatly appreciated.

there is a online BMW salvage yard located in California that has many M3's but shipping would probably be a b****

if the shippings not too bad and you can get a good deal on the engine though it might be a good plan

website is www.bmrparts.com

Try some of the M3 - specific forums as you will get alot more specific knowledge.

www.s14.net may be a good starting point. They will at least point you in the right direction.

I suspect a slight lack of knowledge regarding the specifics of e30 m3 engine transplants on this forum. I may be wrong.

Sounds like a cool project though!

traynors in the north of ireland sometimes have M3 for breaking, i hear that the earlier E36 M3 engines (pre-1996) which are the 3.0 are more reliable than the 3.2 evo, something to consider when ur getting an engine from a salvage yard
