1992 318i OBC

Greetings to ALL -
The tone/illumination on the OBC is weak, can't find a replacement with the same amount of buttons, (11 buttons I believe, as opposed to 18)

Any suggestions ?

thanks for the suggestion, already exhausted eBay, there's all seem to have 18 buttons, and I have 7
maybe the 18 will work on some level ?

If the illumination is the only problem I guess you should replace one or more OBC bulbs.
The E36 OBC has 4 bulbs, doesn't matter which model and it's quite easy to replace the bulbs .. simply pull the OBC towards you. The bulbs are the same type with the ones used for the panel instruments ... the OBC illumination is connected to the dimmer that controls all the dash board lights.
