hello all,

on my 97 328i, ive been noticing that the driver side front window lowers slower than the passenger side. which wasnt a big deal for the couple of months that ive first saw it. now the situation is degrading. the window has trouble lowering until it gets about halfway, and then it speeds up a little. im not worried if its just going to be slow, but rather if it gets to the point where it gets stuck or the motor burns out.

is this a common problem? any advice?
thanks for the help, i appreciate it.

Obviously the drivers window get a little more use that the other. My 96 has a similar problem and has done for about 2 years i also found that when i click it to close automaticaly it stops and goes back down. I believe that is the friction sensors malfunctioning. However it doesnt seem to have gotten any worse, and i havent given it much attention apart from the sensor fault that is sometimes annoying. A cheap solution would be to strip the door pannel and give the motor a quick spray with a carbon cleaner of some kind. I did this on my old peugeot 306. lastly if it gets worse bite the bullet and get it repalced you dont want to get it stuck.
