ac is always on

my ac always turns on when i start my car even if its already been turned off. is this normal in the e36's? has anyone else noticed this too?

I don't think it's normal. How do you know it's on? Do you hear the compressor and actually open the hood to see if it's on or how did you know it's on? Anyhow, it's not supposed to be on.

when i start the car the ac indicator and fan light both turn on. if i turn the ac button off before i turn the car off then the fan will start on low.

Mine does it too. Somebody has mentioned here that some keys store the driver settings, incl. A/C. I use a different key than the original one, so maybe it's not THAT intelligent
