So the external temperature thermometer on my car is freaking out!!! It keeps beeping and showing the temperature as -40. It then goes up to +122.

How can I disable this feature? It's really annoying!!

I just had that problem. Your temperature sensor wires are no longer attached to the ambient temperature sensor. What you are seeing is the two extremes when the two wires make and break contact. If you look, you'll probably see the wire hanging down around your driver's side front wheel well/brake duct.

The fix may be as simple as reconnecting the wires to the sensor. Or that may be gone as well (it was in my case), so you'll need to purchase a new one and reconnect it. (About 40 bucks.) Be sure to get the connector as well. (About 5 bucks.)

I'm not sure what more we can do? As the 2nd post above says, the temperature sensor is located in the left front brake duct. Did you look there?

There is a "tube" that directs air from the bumper to the inside of the wheel well. The sensor is inside the front left fender directly in front of the left tire. It looks like item 1 in the first picture, and you want to look in the area of item 7/8/9/10 in the second picture:
