I'm planning on changing the plugs in my 93 325i. I have used Bosch Platinum +4 in all of my other vehicles, but I have heard that the plug wires in the BMW's are not your normal plug wires. I've also heard that there may be some issues with using Platinum +4's. Is anybody using them or have experience with them?

Thanks

i ahve heard that they arent the best plug to use in our cars. I just changed mine with the dual electrode coppers and she is running like a beast again.. I guess it all depends on who your asking..

I've heard the same, the problem is that they run too hot and may end up melting your ignition wires.

I have those plugs and it wasn't my choice. I have heard a lot of bad things about them in e36s and wanted to go with something else too. Right when I got the car, the person I got it from offered to pay for a couple of things like spark plugs, door locks and so on. After all was done I come up to the mechanic and see 6 empty +4 boxes laying there. So I tell him that those are too hot for the car and he said something like, not for this car. I figured I'd just let it run for a bit and see what heppens. They run pretty good and I don't really have any complains, it has been over a year now. Maybe I'll swap em out later.

Thanks for the info

I installed the the +4's on Monday and the car does seem to run better and accelorate better. I've used the +4's in all my other vehicles with good results. I'll see what happens. Thanks for all the input.

I had NGK R's in my car and they worked fine but my mechanic swapped these for the specified Bosch plugs. I can't say i notice much difference except that my car feels smoother (although this could just be because i had an Inspection II done...)

$3 a plug, plus the 10 minutes it'd take you to swap them. Do it man [:p]

HAHAH WHAT?!?!?!? Are you dumb? Bosch is a german company, and in fact if it weren't for BMW I don't think bosch would still be in business!!! You realize your ECU (engine computer - the thing that MAKES your fuel injected engine RUN!!), your oxygen sensor, your antilock brakes, and just about anything else super important is made by bosch?

Call up BMW and tell them that Bosch = japs and is for rice burners only. I hope they take away your DMC!!! [hah]

Bad. Bad!!!!!! [chair]

I guess my 325is has a bosch (japanese) electrical system then!!!!

I believe a wise man once said: "think before you type!"

Now say you're sorry and write a letter of apology to bosch

What's with the attitude? The guy made a simple mistake. You don't have to humiliate him in front of everyone else like that.

Bosch is the best. But the PLAT plugs are terrible. I used them before in my car and hate them. The car did not run as smoothly. The OEM Bosch four prong copper top plug is the best choice for my M3. I had a 94 325i before my 97 M3. But I never ran Plat plugs in it. Don't get me wrong here the plat plugs are good. But I did not like them in my M3. With spark plugs just use OEM.
