ok guys i have a 98 m3 and it is an auto i hate it beyond belief i really want a 6 speed out of a bmw. whats compatible and whats not?? has anyone even attempted this before?? i have done an auto to 5 speed swap in my 87 trans am GTA then i went form a 5 speed to a 6 speed but i had a lot of technical help with compatibility from others who have done it. the dealers know nothing i need people with 6 speed manual trannys to give me specs on lenth, width, hieght, bolt pattern of flywheel, bolt pattern of tranny to engine, tranny mounts location, shifter linkage, all compaired to a 5 speed setup of the same style from 92-98. this is all assuming that the auto and 5 speed from a 98 m3 bolts in the same and everything. but i would like to know what i would need to install a 6 speed. where i can get the parts froma junk yard or after market not from the dealer... way to costly. what i will need to modify during the process. and if it even can be done. let me know please. i really hate this auto and my car is a convertable and perfect in every other way so i dont want to sell it and get a different one. i cant even find m3s around here nevermind good looking ones that are convertables with manual trannys.
