Bent Rim?

Does anyone have any experience having a bent rim straightened?

There is a firm in Boston that specializes in it, they charge $100 plus $15 to mount and balance, they are sport package wheels on a 1995 325i Conv, wheel is currently on the car and was only discovered when mounting a new tire and while bent was able to balance to zero. I am debating having wheel straightened or buying a used rim.

ive straightened 2 of my contours. i went to "Wheels America" to get one straightened and they did a pretty darn good job, cost me about $125. the second one i took to a smaller, different shop did an OK job, cost $80.

I bought my 99 323 convert. sport package used and all 4 rims were impacted (bent) when I bought the car. I took it back to the dealership (that specializes in late model bimmers www.thebimmerstore.com) and they had them straightened. I would recommend having them straighted. It is a much cheaper option and most shops can make them better than original, however, given that the rims are a magnesium alloy.....chances are any abrupt pothole encounter will bend them again. Good luck.

Well in some cases the aftermarket shop can actually use tighter tolerances when re-forming the wheel, thus making it better than original.
