boot lid won't shut

Hi

A nice christmas present was the discovery that the boot lid won't shut on my 99 728.
sequence of events:
opened boot lid to do get jack out
did some work on car (fix windscreen washer stuff)- left boot open for 45 mins
tested windscreen washers - it was evident that battery was running flat (lots of recent short journeys - air con, sat for a week etc...)
went to shut boot ... no joy - can't shut it manually - no life form automatic closer at all...nada
charged battery, checked fuses..nada...just an open boot.

every garage shut - just want to cruise in the beast....help....

After its open, press the button a few more times. Then try.

fixed it! took the solonoid out and wacked it(!) hey presto!
