Hey all,

Quick question....

You know how the clear plastic lense on the front head lights gets all mucky and looks like it's got mange or mold or something; looks all dingy and not cool at all. Is there a product that can clean this piece to look like new, or a cheap place where I can get original new ones, and how do I take the old ones out to clean/replace.

I don't want aftermarket whatevers, I like the clear look of the originals, I just want it to look new and original.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks. Sean

There are DIY instructions somewhere - but even after cleaning, they won't look new at all. I suggest going for Euro ellipsoids that you can get for around 170$. Or I can sell you my factory ones for 50$ +s from a '96 E36, which I have replaced a couple of years ago with ZKW projectors.

3M rubbing compound might work. You may even want to TEST using some 2000 grit sand paper to clean the debris off and then use the compound. This is just a theory I have. If you want to try it test it in the lower corner of the lense cover.

Can you send me a picture of what the ones your selling look like?

I really don't want aftermarket ones. Check your pm for my email address and send the pics to me. Thanks in advanced. Sean

Ok . . . here’s what you do . . .

Get some 1000, 2000 and 3000 sandpaper and some Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze – Clear Plastic Polish #10 from any paint shop.

Now, prep the car by using duct tape to mask off any area that the sandpaper could touch and NO you don’t need to take out your headlights.

After you did that, get a bucket of water and then start sanding away.
First start with the 1000 for about 15 minutes, 2000 for about 15 minutes and 3000 for 15 minutes. By the way you do know that this is wet-dry sandpaper.
It really depends on how bad your headlights are pitted.

After you did that clean off your lights with clean water and use the Meguiar’s
Clear Plastic Polish as per the instructions.

And your done. . .
