- I've been getting slight exhaust fume in cabin (93' 318i, 65k)
- ...window, sunroof open
- shop says everything OK
- except after-market Catalytic Converter may be problem
- they only recommend OEM only (they are NOT a dealer)
- anybody have experience with this?

How long since it was changed out?..on some off-brand cats, they have extra places for sensors, and different applications .Is perhaps there a connection not plugged off? I put a universal one on a volvo I had a few years back, and there was a sensor connection that had to be capped..maybe..

hmmmm...can you tell if there is a heat shield that had to be removed. As you are probably aware, the very nature of the converter generates heat, and the floorpan is sometimes shielded with some type of sheetmetal as an insulator against the floor..its tough to diagnose with out having access to the car...good luck
