as far as I know, it should gp off on its own after a few days. IF it doesnt u should take it to the dealer. My check filler cap light is on. My fuel cap is on properly but this light is on for some reason. It bohers the hell outta me. Anyone know why it does this?

how could the fuel cap cause the engine light to go on? that is beyond me....funny...well i never had that, nor did i have the filler cap light problem. with both i suggest to check with a dealer or a mecahnic who has a reset tool. or it could be that the sensors are gone bad with you guys. first try the reset and then you'll see.

The gaz (er, I mean, GAS) cap being loose is usually the culprit for the check engine light coming on in just about any type of car. Not sure about the BMW, but different cars use a different number of start sequences to extinguish it.

Yeah I had the same problem with my 330ci too. It was the fuel cap that was off. It does take a while for the check engine light to go off! I can not remember how long it specifically was but give it time! Good Luck!
