Clear error codes?

i know this has been posted before, i looked for it. but could someone repost the directions for clearing the error codes. i remember it was some device you can create to plug into the engine and reset it. i remember the directions were from the e36 webpage, i couldnt find it there either.

if nothing else works just disconnect your negitive battery cable for a sec.

The service counter and oil change light can be reset with a jumper in the port in the engine compartment, a check engine light must be reset with an OBDii scanner that is ISO 9141/2 compatible. I bought my own for my laptop $88 http://www.obddiagnostics.com/ it has more than paid it's self off. Try your local parts store, mine will read the codes and give you a print out for free. mark, a while back you recommended Auto Xray or something, does that one delete airbag/abs codes?
