Im very new to the bmw line up. Ive heard great things about the 325 motor and was
wondering if there are any common problems such as the timing chain or tensioner that
I would have to replace after purchasing one. Im on a limited buget of around $8500, and
would like to buy one in good condition under 75k. Ive read a little on the 325 and although
the 328 sounds like more fun Im after reliabilaty since Im starting college next fall. Please,
any opinions on the 325 is Greatly appreciated!
thanks

Im really not aware of any problems related to the 325's. I've had my 325is for about two years now and the only thing i've had to replace is the thermastat and the radiator which is said to usually go around 100000 (102000 for me). The cars been awesome otherwise. even the original clutch is still going strong at 107,000 miles (said to usually go at around 70,000) However, if you could get a 328 for 8,500 i would definitally go for that.
The 325is was Grassroot Motorsports car of choice for used cars under $15,000 (just something to consider).
