I have heard several people inquire about the costs associated with replacing the clutch etc in a manual e36, but there hasn't been much of a response.

I fear my replacement is not too far away--can you all share with us any pricing info. on your clutch work? I would like to get a general idea what to expect....

Thanks for your input

Just had mine replaced two weeks ago by the dealer. Previous owner was hard on it. Very labor intensive! The entire exhaust system has to be removed. Total cost: $2243.67!!!!
I almost crapped!! O.E.M. parts totaled $1285.96, rest labor.
Just noticed you are in Milwaukee. You might want to check The Little Car Shop for a price. I'm sure they would be less than the dealer. Good luck!

Sad to say, there are only two dealers in the city and one did try to rip me off! I caught them and won't go there again! This left the other one which has a good rep. I do realize that dealers generally charge the most, but I wanted all factory parts and completed asap. They did alright! I have never replaced a clutch on any car I have owned. This is a first and I do not anticipate needing to replace this one again!

Hello, i have a 93 325I with 98000 mile. I just got 3 quotes from local shops. 600, 750 & 835. that price included labor and parts. The guy who quoted the 835 seemed to be the most knowledgeable. and gave the best warrenty.

Well, once the clutch was removed we found out the the flywheel was bad also. The mech. said that it should be replaced and would cost an additional 625.00. Thought i was going to get away with less than 1000.00. Should be done today or tomarrow.

One thing I didn't mention was that the dual mass flywheel needed to be replaced. That part was $695. It was shot. This was the most expensive part of the replacement. If you don't need that you're way ahead! The clutch kit from BAV Auto for the M3 was $399.95. The dealer charged $360.60 for it. Such a deal!

good question, Concourse or International autos?

If either of you are in the Milwaukee area you might want to check out Matt's Foreign Car. It is a smaller place but they have been around for many years and do nice work at a reasonable price.....

wow, I sound like a commercial
