Sad to say this story wasn't in my bimmer, but still a very heart racing moment in my life. I was going down a 2 lane road by my house, when i passed a cop (while of course doing over 2 times the speed limit). Scared shitless i speed up and watch as he turns around, luckily he drove a little while longer. Ahead was an 'S' shaped slolem type bend in the road, which i test my speed on. So it finally paid of and i speed into my neighborhood doing 85, round the corner to my street, still watching behind me. Just as i turned, he turned into my neighborhood, so he didn't see where i turned, pulled into driveway into garage frantically got out and shut the door and krept into my house to see the cop drive by my house. Literally almost had a heart attack, not fun.

Once I was driving from Atlanta to Miami at night - about a 9-hour drive. I was driving a friend's Mitsubishi 3000GT - quite a beast, doing steady 120 in a 70 zone. This cop was on the side of the road, and I see him going after me. My radar detector didn't fire... So I get pulled over, and start thinking about jail time, etc. (speeding laws are no joke in Georgia, I guess). So he takes my papers, goes to his car, then drives up next to me, gives me my license back and says - "today's your lucky day, I just got an emergency call. Don't speed no more", and speeds off. Whoa... almost never happens like this. I stopped speeding this much since. And never fully trust any radar detector any more.

stupidity is my name!!!

i was going shopping and came into the car park. there is a nice down hill 500ft straight a 180degree turn under a bridge to avoid the railtrack then a nice 200ft sprint to the car park entrance. it was VERY wet i was fealing crazy and decided to powerslide round that turn!! start off booting the throttle balance the car and was going sideways at 40Mph (big grin on my face) just the bridge to go and i would have pulled it off perfectly. however under a bridge rain cannot fall. what happens when warm rubber and dry tarmac mix??? yes grip!! i slingshotted myself one way over corrected (came out the otherside into the wet again) lost all grip and finished up facing the train track. (great fun!!!)

THE STUPID story

back in the days with my golf. i was in huge parking garage. made a left into one of the lanes, found a sopt. a very small one. went back and forth trying to get in there and spotted a bigger one in another lane. so i looked in my mirror, everything clear, everything white. back up with speed and BANG!!!!...i hit a pillar that completly filled out the mirror so i did not recognize it to be a pillar right behind me. the end was so wrecked...

THE SCARY story

going from duesseldorf to frankfurt on the A3. some will now that autobahn [hihi] with mom's 540. hitting it real hard against another 5er. in one of those turns i had to step of the gaz quickly. usually that is no problem with bmw's but at 150 mph +/- some it made the rear end cut loose. not much and i'm sure you couldn't tell from the outside, but i felt it fishtailing a little. so the back got lightand i had to open up the steering to catch it. that almost forced me to change lanes, and that would have meant to hit the van i was passing. it was so close....

THE FUN story

Again duesseldorf - frankfurt and back. in total 460 km / 290 miles. i drove my dads former 750 with him as co driver. we had to deliver banking documents on a sunday to have them at the bank on monday. it took us 2.5 hours, in total. rest is up to your imagination. just one hint, a brabus SL was involved [hihi]

All of you guys have such interesting stories. mikev, good thing noone was there for you to collide with.
I have done a lot stupid things but nothing that is worth telling, oh, wait, I remember one story now. I'm driving home at about 10pm and I see this guy a Lexus (something 430) that acts like he is the one, just like a real ricer but his car looks completely stock. I stop in the right lane at a red light and he pulls up next to me in the left lane. Next thing I see him doing is slowly crawling through a red light, when he got to the middle of the intersection, the light turns green and we both take off. I pass him at about 60mph and let go of the gas and prepare to brake because my turn is coming up soon. As my foot prepares to prees on the brake pedal, I see this parked car slowly getting out of the spot. I see the car stop so I decide to keep on going. That was the worst dicision I could make, the dude thinks I am going pretty slow and that he has enough time to get in front of me and blocks the entire left lane still moving pretty slow compared to me and the Lexus guy. I step on the brake as hard as I can and feel the ABS kick in almost immidiately. As I come closer and closer to him, I realise that there is not enough space for me to stop and I would rear end him going about 5mph. To get out of that situation, I turn the wheel to the left and go around the idiot. Right before all of this happened, the Lexus guy decide to go even faster and is just behind me. He sees me cutting him off and goes into the empty middle lane that is used for turns and everything turns out to be fine. That small period of time taught me a big lesson and no, I don't race anyone when there is the slightest chance of anyone getting in the way. Now I can't believe I was stupid enough to let all of that happen.

Some of these stories make me wonder who I might meet on the road while driving with my wife and kid in the car.[?|]
thats true but just to clear one thing up, where i did my 'crazy drift' it was a completely clear one way system so there was no-one to hit anyway (and no-one to see how much of an ass i was)[:D]

i think its better to try things like that out when there is no-one around so that there is no one upmanship going on which is when ppl get killed!

I just finished reading the stories, they are very amusing to say the least so i thought i would throw one of mine into the ring.....My car was in the shop getting some Dinan equipment on it so i borrowed a friends 2003 ponitac grand am, it has the V6 in it and isint that slow...i was watching tv and noticed the time was 7:20...i had a meeting at work that started at 7 and i lived 15 minutes away as it was....so i got my stuff together and headed out the door as i was driving 60 down a road with a speed limit of 35 i noticed a white car moving out to the side of a car that was in front of it croming towards my direction in the other lane...it was the police coming out a little bit so he could radar me....as he went past me i saw him hit his brake lights to pull into a drive way and turn around to get me....i made the choice to step on the gas as hard as i could...i'm getting my degree in criminal justice so i know its a felonly to run from the police so my plan was to get out of his sight and turn off into a drive way off the road and hopefully avoid him....i took a turn and saw a gravel driveway with trees around it so you couldnt see down it from either side of the road...i tried slamming the brakes and turning off into it but i was going to fast and started to spin out...i corrected myself and shot down another driveway on thr right side of the road, this driveway was dirt...i went all the way down it and it ended at a guys trailor (this road was out in the middle of no where)...i pulled behind the trailor only to see the police car coming down the road...i forgot that when you drive fast down a dirt road you kick up a lot of dirt so your easy to spot...well he found me and told me about a felony i had just commited and i talked it out with him, having knowledge about the law and how the police work i knew what to say and what not to say...he took my DL and went to his car, came back gave it back to me and said "drive slower mr. gentry from now on".....and he drove off....it really got my heart pumping a pretty good bit i will admit

Hmm, just out of high school many years ago in a 1975 Pontiac LeMans GT (350c.i.). I was at a party and got somewhat toasted and decided to go for a drive with a friend of mine. We were going down a country road I've driven a thousand times and knew like the back of my hand at over 100 mph. We get into an easy right hand turn that is slightly uphill and I feel the car start to slide out a bit (this is on dry pavement). I eased off the throttle and corrected to bring it back under control and caught it. There was total silence in the car for a few seconds so I asked my friend if he felt that and all he said was yes...I think we could have easily died that night. I slowed it down after that.

well take today for instance.... i went out to see how the roads were and well let me tell you i regret taking the bimmer out. I was going along and turned the wheel a little to fast and the rear got loose i did a 360 trying to save it from going off the road and i wound up in a snow bank/ditch. Meanwhile i'm pissed off bc what if there is damage i'd be screwed. So a few cars are coming by and 5 people stop to assist me in getting out of the ditch. A German guy as a matter of fact stopped, said he owned a 3 series himself and he hooked everything up for me took the tool kit and hooked up the took hook. I hit against this metal post that keep deer out and reflect, luckilty it only hit against the bumper and no damaged occured. When he was pulling me out, i heard something scraping and felt something rubbing the side. When he pulled me out i didn't want to get out of the car. The rocker panel/side skirt caught onto the road and scraped it to hell. Now i have to go get an estimate to fix it, my dad thinkgs around $500. Nice people to stop and help, by damn it would have been cheaper to keep the bimmer at home.

hey guys, im 17 years old and i own a 96 bmw 328is. Of course when you first get your car you want to test the limits. So like any other teenager, i decided to see how fast my car would go, the gov kicked in around 135mph, give or take a few to correct the speedometer. After that i got a little braver, and decided to take my car out on some backroads, well as im enjoying the sound of the beautiful 6 cylinder and my exhaust and intake, i look into my rear view mirror to see a nissan 300zx im not sure if it was a turbo or not. So at this time im going around 75-80mph, and was in 4th gear, so i dropped it into 3rd and pulled away from him, while i was busy looking at him in the rear view, a hairpin turn appears, i tried to hit the brakes to slow down before i got in the turn, so i could atleast accerlerate out of it, but the turn came to fast, I got the car into a power slide, and released some pressure on the steering wheel and just let the car handle itself. What do you know, the bimmer corrected itself, and slid right out. The climax of this story is the guy behind me lost control and did a 180, and slid off into the dirt on the side of the road. I have some more stories about out on the track and some pics ill try to post some later on. Everyone be careful out there during the Holidays!
