Just replaced the radiator, low coolant light came on, was half a glass of coolant low.....I take that as the coolant sensor is working pretty well, was hot and guess had some overflow. Now, leaking from a few different areas. Anyone have any good pics of a E36 engine on a engine stand? I need to get it on a lift, crawled under it, well....as much as I could, seems like the first leak is a bad clamp...looks like the oil pump, not sure, right behind the fan in front of the block. Second leak, in the front of the block on the passenger side, really need to get it on a lift and get some engine cleaner to see what is leaking. Hopefully just gaskets. Weird thing is, now, turning in the morning when cold....the power steering is making a scream on a sharp turn until it warms up.....seems like the car knows I have a 10 hour drive to Orlando Disney World coming up......Shiest!!!!

I can't help so go to the next reply.
My '95 318 leaks power steering fluid.
If you want to talk about leaks: I have owned 2 Peugeot 505s turbo diesels. They have been known to leak in the new car showroom!!!
I wish you luck, I just hope we get our leaks figured out before they become terminal.

I'm assuming you're leaking oil. Last weekend I just pulled my engine (didn't take pictures, sorry) but I found that I was leaking from a number of places. On, from a little tiny o-ring on a hose that you can see as soon as you look at your engine. It's got two hoses leading into it (without hose clamps on them) and they plug right into your valve cover. You can easily buy a new o-ring for this and replace it in a jiffy, it's no problem. However, the big leaks were coming from my front main seal (difficult to get to, it's in the timing cover) the timing cover gasket, a little tiny bit from the head gasket (not much, just some seepage) and I think, but I'm not sure, a little from the oil filter housing-to-head gasket. I hope this helps, I've replaced all those gaskets (and a few more) and I haven't leaked any oil all week, and I'm running 0W-40 Mobil 1. Give that a shot if you decide you have a number of hours to do it. It was my first time and I did it with a friend who's rebuilt engines before but never a bimmer, and we got it done in about 25 hours.

Actually seems to be the power steering pump, just changed the oil today, topped off the power steering fluid. It was low. I had the engine sprayed so now I can isolate the leak. Just wanted to post an update.
