It ejects the passenger through the open roof like in a James Bond movie. Actually I have no idea as I do not own a Z4, should be in the manual. I would assume something to do with tires by the looks of it. Sorry someone here will know, hang in there, and welcome to the Board!

That's the DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) button. It basically works in conjunction with the DSC to regulate wheel spin and traction.

DSC trys to limit wheel spin as much as possible through braking and engine management. DTC will allow for some forward-moving wheel spin and only reign in the lateral....

...at least that's what I understand of it. That's why nothing seems to happen when you push the button- because DSC is still on, you still won't be doing any burnouts.
