Door Panels

Apparently there is a common problem with BMW's with the interior door panel material "swelling", or separating from the panel itself. It kinda looks like a bubble. What is the fix that guys have been using?...I've thought of perhaps a hair dryer, or heat gun, but really do not want to screw it up. Everything else is perfect on the panels, and they have never been removed...any thoughts on this???

My '94 is just starting to do this on one door. My idea is to remove the door panel and locate the bubble area from the back. Then CAREFULLY drill 1/4" holes through the panel from the back, obviously not puncturing the bubbled vinyl!

I will then spay 3M trim adhesive into the holes, or apply it thru the holes with a small paint brush, and put an appropriate weight (like bean bags with a heavier weight on top) on the vinyl to press it in place for an hour or so. I'm pretty sure that this will do a reasonable repair job.

I've used 3M trim adhesive before, it works pretty well.

I try to do the same as Kriby describe on my 1995ic, but it did not work all that good lucky for me that I found an individual who work on BMW door panels my cost was $150.00 labor/ Leather. A new door panel at the dealer is about 395.00- 425.00. good luck
