Drivers side window on 93 convertible not opening properly

I am having a problem with my driver's side window not dropping ever so slightly upon opening and closing the door. Since it is a convertible, it's getting hung up on the top and won't close. Sometimes if I slam the door hard enough, it will activate properly. The door panel was recently falling off (what a surprise) and I just repaired that hoping it would solve the problem...but no. Could the problem be in the door handle? The passenger side door sounds different upon opening and the window drops down and up properly upon opening and closing of the door. This is driving me crazy!!! Please help!

Hi there,

Sounds to me more like a problem with the door lock actuator.
Try opening the door and using something to close the latch. It should raise the window that extra half inch. There is a microswitch in the actuator that controls the window "drop". This might be the source of your problem, so try the latch at least a dozen times to see if this helps to diagnose your trouble.
