E34 Glass tailgate problem

I have a touring version of the 525i (E34)
On the glass door in the main tailgate the tension on the arms springs seem weak. The glass door has to be held open or it swings down on my head ouch! I assume there are springs - maybe gas struts? Any ideas on how to adjust or repair?

Gas shocks, buy them from the dealer. THey are about $15USD

Thanks for the reply. Any idea how to go about changing them. Does the head linning have to come down?
