e36 Idle surge

Hello, Another question. I have a 93 325I with 98000 miles. I found out that the throw out bearing is going bad because of the noise it is making. The car is in great shape so i talked to a mech and he said not to worry right now, they dry out and make noise. (Is this True)? If i replace the bearing i will surely replace the clutch too. One other thing once the car warms up the idles surges whenever i depress the clutch pedal, then it goes back to normal idle if i let the clutch out. Is there a sensor somewhere that needs replaced? or will this go away once the clutch is replaced.

thanks again

your throw out bearing is probably worn (not spinning as freely) causing the engine to slow down enough to cause the engine temporary confusion to surge the idle.

how’s that for wording and for a theory. yeah i know, i'm a genius.... just kidding.

anyway i can feel my throwout bearing wiggle when the clutch is depressed, and it causes the idle to change a little for a second when i let go of the clutch in neutral. *****

***** I don't actually know what i was getting at in this 3rd paragraph..... sorry about the confusion.

Thanks for the quick reply, Best answer so far. I hope that's it. because it will go away once clutch is replaced. So far I've been getting quotes for 600 to 750 for the job. That's parts and labor. Does this sound about right??

well i've scheduled it for the repair. New bearing , clutch , pressure plate & rebuild the clutch hydrolics. In this weds and done on fri. Can't wait to try it out. Hope this takes care of the idle problem.
