gearbox problems

just brought e36 m3 and when engine warms up i'm having difficulty getting into gear- is it a clutch or gearbox problem?

that depends... try changing the trans fluid.

That's a good first try. Bimmers actually use automatic trans fluid in the manual transmission (go figure). A lot of people on the net report smoother shifts after changing the fluid to a synthetic, like Mobil 1 or Redline.

I put 75% MTL 25% ATF in my transmission and it's smoother (no, INCREDIBLY smoother) than just ATF once it's warmed up.
