My '98 323's color is Moreagrun. I know the grun is green, but can someone translate morea for me? I can't find it in any German-English Dictionary. And, yes, I know the grun should have an umlauch or umlaut (it's been a long time since high school German class), but my computer won't do it.

Wadula can back me up on this but I am pretty sure that Morea isnt a German specific word. It is just a word used to identify with the color of your car. From my little bit of research Morea is usually referenced with olives and the color is like a dark olive green. It is the similar to the use of "Imola" Red -Imola a direct reference to the city of Ferrari, hence Imola or Ferrari Red.....

The umlaut is equivalent to appending an "e", so if you can't type grün, is it perfectly acceptable to type gruen. The latter still looks a bit funny but it is correct and something people will understand.

Thanks

Thanks for the German refresher. I'm not sure about the olive green though. My car is close to a teal green. My wife even called it blue when she first saw it.

I know the color isnt exactly olive green but from what i have been able to deduce Morea is a Greek company specializing in olives.....and from what I can see from BMW's color naming scheme is may be a "nod" to greece the way "Imola" was a nod to that italian town......Interlagos blue, Avus Blue, Imola Red, Morea Green, Toledo Blue, Mauritis Blue........see the trend?

Check this partial listing out: http://www.bmwccbc.org/resources/teile/farben.html

eric is right. morea is like a name. it is the old name of a greec island. just as imola is an ad-on to red and avus the addition blue, morea is that for green. nothing more to it.

[scratch] so whats green in boston since as my color is boston green ? [???1]
Isnt Boston considered an "irish" city? Green=Irish=clovers etc, etc...

Havent made the connection with Montreal yet, but most of BMW's colors seem to have some type of connection....
