Help Huge Problem!!!!!!!!!!

Do any of you guys know what is happening???? the car shifts at really high rpm's (automatic

1997 318ic with 96K) and (just today started...again) sputtering/shaking at idle. sometimes it

even shuts off. when i'm driving there is no problem, only acts up like at stop lights. i took it

to a mechanic 3 days ago for the same thing and he said that a cable was knocked loose

when the oil was changed. he said he fixed it and it was ok for a couple days but it started

again today. i'm taking her back today but just wanted to see what you guys knew. Thank

you all in advance!!!!!


ps. the check engine light is also on.

just got back from the mechanic.....same problem as before, just a loose wire. i guess i'm missing some clips that aren't sold separately so i have to check in the salvage yards. Thanks anyways.

you are too fast giving an answer top your own question and i rarely read the posts in the night, sorry dude. but good to hear you got it fixed. how did the mech fix the plug? duck tape?

no he used zip ties until we get the clamps. i know it is kinda ghetto but it works for now.

You don't need to check a salvage yard. Check with a dealership or even check with www.alloembmwparts.com. They might not list it on their site (the clip you need) but if you call them I can almost gaurantee they'll get it for you.
