Help Ignition Screwed

Guys/Gals
I tried starting my car and the key turned but will not make any sound. So the car is on cos the windows work and the miles show and all but it wont turn and the key can come out of the ignition and all. What do i do. I Thinmk the ignition is gone any ideas on how much it will cost. Plus i had to remove the battery head so it wont drain the battery

If your accessorries are working fine, but there is nothing happening under the hood, they it sounds like your starter is shot , or maybe disconnected, and is not engaging the flywheel at all.
