Help on E30 Conversion

HI - Just bought a 96 E36 3.2L Evolution Engine to go in my E30 M3. Have read on some sites the mention of an OBDI Kit being needed for the conversion. What is this? - Is it needed? If so where can I get one and how much does it cost. (Both new engine and car European)
