okay, some of you know i just recently got new shocks and tires put on my car the past 2 weeks and have noticed something annoying. there is this ticking noise coming from my car. sounds like it's coming from the middle of my car. it's weird because when i turn left it gets louder, but when i turn right it goes away. but in the center you can still here it. it's been getting quieter and quieter, and would probably go away soon, but this is not something i think i should neglect. this has actually happened once before a while ago after i lifted my car to put my rims on, but it went away in like 2 days. the current problem has lasted a week...

Is there something simple like a tack or small nail in the tire? Has something come loose and is clicking against a wheel, like the wires for brake sensors? Is there a rock caught in the wheel or brake caliper? Good luck.

I'd go with Big Daddy, sound like something that is slowly getting ground down. Loud, then getting softer and softer sounding.
I hope it's something simple like a stone!
Let us know what you find out-could help someone else !
Good luck,
-M

Not really related, but I found a screw in my right rear tire... no noise or anything, and no air loss, but it scares me.... really don't want to shell out $200 for new rubber, is it safe to just leave it in there? There's no telling how long it's been stuck in there. Only reason I found it was that I had to have my car jacked up back onto a curb that I backed out over (yes, a stupid not-paying-attention move) and the rear wheels were flexed out. Normally I'd never had known that it was in there...

thanks for all the help guys, i don't have time to lift my car this weekend, but on mon i'll definitely check it out. i've also heard things like wheel bearings might be bad or my driveshaft is knocking my heat shield. now i seriously can't wait to get it in the air.
but as far as i've checked, i can't find any nails, rocks, or loose underbody panels. it definitely sounds like it's coming from right underneath my shift lever...

allright, this is an old ass post, but i thought i should share with you guys what i discovered... after weeks of going from shop to shop trying to find the sound, we finally found out that it was being caused by my wheel lugs touching my ebrake mechanism. they were just touching, nothing damaging at all, but the sound inside the cabin of the car was absolutely unbearable!!! when we removed the bolts from the wheels we noticed all the lugs had black marks on them from touching the ebrake's spring mechanism. so i just went out and bought shorter lugs and now everything's back to normal. but..... my freakin question is, why is it that all of a sudden the lugs got "longer"??? is my ebrake going bad? are my hamanns getting so soft that the lugs are threading in too deep? or were the lugs themselves getting to thin due excessive removal and installation because of tire rotations. these are just questions that nobody else could answer for me at those shops. maybe on of you guys know. anyway, if anybody ever comes accross this problem, you'll know what to look for and how to solve it!!!
