Help with corner lights

Does anyone know the type of bulb that's in the corner lights of a 98 328is? Is it an 1157? I think standard is 21w/5w right? If I put some PIAA 27w/8w, will that be too hot and melt the wires, or do you think that will be ok? Thanks.

1157 up front (dual filament) and 1156 in the rear turn signals (single filament).you should have no problems with those piaa bulbs.

Do you know if it's legal to use corner bulbs that are a color other than orange?

yeah...anything but blue or red. the only red on your car can be the tail/brake lights

Yep, red or blue on other lights tend to get cops upset......I understand though, for Emergency Vehicles. Believe it or not, Red or Blue Angel Eyes.....yep, they can burn you for that also. My buddy is a cop out here, he says they love to pull people over for colored bulbs and headlight neons....I remember in the 80's growing up in Cali with the minitruck crowd....if anyone remembers the rotating red light licence plate frames....or the neon, instant ticket. This is from my personal experience.
