Help!!

Can i put a 205/40/17 size tire on a 17" rims? What are the pros and cons of this. I have a 225/45/17 now and i still get rubbing on truns and shit. I hate it. I can't even have 2 people in my back seat without some serious rubbing.
My rims were off a 5 series. Therefore, it sticks out a little bit on the sides.

wheels from a 5er? im not sure of their width but, you can most certainly use 205/40-17 if they are 7in. wide. id recommend a 215/40-17 though. if your wheels are a +7.5in wide, i WOULD not use anything less than a 225/45-17

i would NOT go under 225/45-17, since the wheels are 17x7.5. if you do, your wheel will stick out a bit and will definately mess them up on a good ole bump.
