OIL!!!!!!!

i am going to change the oil of my bmw 325 is, what is the oil that u guys recomend ? does it requiere to change some type of filter, and how many liters of oil will i need?

Plz help me, i got the car months ago and i went to a special bmw shop for inspection 2, now i just need the oil change

Well I'm going to assume you have an E36 325is. I personally use Mobil 1 0W-40. If you have an E36 you'll need 6.9 quarts (just put all 7 in) And yes you'll need to replace your filter which is directly on top of your engine in an aluminum hosing with 1 bolt holding the lid on. Unbolt that housing and pull the very long bolt out. Be sure to replace both the o-ring on the bolt itself and the o-ring on the oil filter housing. Pull the old oil filter out, drop the new one in, replace the small metal washer on both the bolt for the oil filter and the bolt for the oil drain plug and you're all set. Everything you need (as far as the o-rings and washers) will come with the oil filter.

Yep, just did mine, I ran Castrol dino oil though. The filter was a Mann filter, bought at the local auto parts store. Make sure you do change the O ring though.

Check Walmart.....0W-40 Mobil one is pretty cheap there in the 5L tubs, they also sell the filters as well. Hope this helps.

i'd base it more around the weather in your area....if its colder, you're go'n to want a thinner oil, or else you might get a knocking noise in your valve train. it doesn't always happen, but does sometimes. mine for example is one of those sometimes. it knocks cuz my oil is too thick for the cold.

Exactly 318intelligance (very ironic name by the way) 0W-40 is what I really like because the intial weight is 0 but once it gets warm it has the 40 weight which our german engines love once they're warm. A friend of mine, an ///M speciallist, used to use castrol synthetic (i forget which weight) then he switched to Pennzoil 5W-50 because the castrol he used they stopped making, now Pennzoil stopped making 5W-50 so he uses mobil 1 5W-50

so penzoil is the oil i should be looking for?

the weather here is very hot in summer and not as cold in winter it never goes below frezing..
so what weight is the best for my situation?

I'd use Mobil 1 15W-50 as long as I knew it doesn't get below freezing.

I see "Hi" and click because I'm bored, no mention of OIL!!!!!!!!!! I would be willing to bet that if your subject had OIL attached to it someplace that you would have more replies.
