Instrument Panel and licence plate light

I have a '92 325i and the instrument panel light and licence plate light seems to be acting up! It was fine till 2 days back but suddenly it has just gone off. When I turn on the headlight knob, the panel and licence plate light don't turn on. It comes on after I drive it for about 10 mins but then goes off again when i re-start the car. What could the problem be? I checked the fuse, those seemed fine. Could it be the bulb...not likely since the licence plate and panel have gone off simultaneously and the display panel does not indicate any failures. Help, please!

Id check the relays but thats just a random guess

can you direct me where I can find the relay for the panel and license plate. It's not the fuse and it's not the bulb either so it's either the relay or some wiring problem. I know the relays are located a few places but do you know where it would be for the panel?

The relays are located in the left hand rear corner of the engine compartment, labled 1-15. You might check 2,6,7,8, or all of them?

You are talking about the fuse box, right? The same place where we see the fuse and relays. I did not find the numbering on the relays though. Also, how do I check the relays to make sure they work or not.
