Interior Parts and Minor Problems

I just bought a 1993 325I with 162,000 miles on it for $4000 (I'm pretty sure I made out like a bandit). The car runs great, but there's a couple of little things I'd like to fix up:

1) The driver's side heated seat works fine. The passenger's side does not. When the button is pushed, it will light up like it should but will turn off by itself in about 5 seconds. What could be the source of this problem and how might I be able to fix it?

2) The digital temperature display shows the incorrect temperature. It always stays set at -36 fahrenheit or -37 celsius. What might be wrong and how can I fix this?

3) I need a couple of small parts, specifically the plastic latches that attach the driver's door panel to the actual door, the hardware that attaches the stock door speakers to the door panel, and the black plastic casing that sits behind the driver's side interior door handle. I've looked on ebay and can't seem to find any of this stuff. Do any of you have these parts available for sale, should I go to the BMW dealership, or should I just try the salvage yard?

This is my first beamer so I'm kind of new to all of this. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Very nice purchase. I've got a 92 325i with 168,000 miles and it still runs great too. I have the same probelms as you have. For me neither of my seat heaters worked, at all. I use a voltometer to make sure they were getting power and both seats were getting the correct ammount of power. It turns out the seat heater elements broke inside of the seat, from all the use and expanding and contracting over the years. Next weekend I plan to take out both seats and completely disassemble them and solder the heating elements back together. Since yours just shuts off you might want to check either the switch or the relay.

The temp sending is right in the front of your car down below the front grille. That as well as many of the other interior parts you can get from www.bavarianautosport.com Make sure you just give them a call and tell them everything you need. They dont list a lot of their products on the site and if you call you'll be suprised how many parts they have and how helpful they are. There are lots of other places you can get BMW parts cheaper, but Bavarian Autosport has always been REALLY helpful to me and they always ship out quickly.

Good luck with your car! Oh yeah, and its Bimmer :p

the interior clips that hold the door moulding on you can get from a BMW dealership for like 57 cents each. as well as the hard wear for the speaker.
