The car I have is a 318is coupe, 1994.
The problem now Im experiencing is the Engine stalls after it starts, and mostly happen when after the car warms up. The first start of every day is perfectly.( when the car is cold). It only happen sometimes when I start it. Sometimes it starts perfect for several days but now it almost happens everyday.
After several visit to my previou used garage, BMTech (www.bmtech.com.au) they have decide that the ECU has problem. Before this they changed the electric air valve and air flow sensor but those didn't fix the problem.
The technician said it's because the ECU has wrong reading from the "air flow sensor", which is why they change it first time, but after that didn't fix the problem they have put the old one back. So they have decided the ECU has problem itself. There's no other way to explain why the computer will have fault reading from "air flow sensor".
Any suggestions? A new ECU would cost me about AUD $1000 and I still have doubt it can fix the problem, even though they claim they are BMW specialist. Waiting for a second had ECU will not be possible since it happens quite often now.
Great appreciated if you can give me some advise. :
