I'm sure bigdaddy can clarify this, but everything but a radio is useless -- radar only works IF they are using radar -- and if they have it turned on before they see you. The laser plates are a complete waste of money -- the only way it works is if the laser is aimed directly at that 12" x 6" piece of plastic -- which is NOT very likely, becuase if he doesnt get a reading most likely he'll just aim it up half an inch and get a reading off the rest of your car.

Radio is the only way you could find them before they find you -- IF they are even talking.

My personal advice is if you want to speed, just dont do it when cops are around [:p](or anyone for that matter, becuase that would be stupid.) I personally enjoy the back roads, which are in the boonies where no matter what, i barely go over the speed limit (except the 'suggested speeds' around turns -- 15 mph easily turns into 40 but it is usually a 40mph zone anyways.)

Very well said epj3. Go to up Lolo Pass on US 12 in Idaho. The sign says curves next 77 miles. It is a narrow, twisty, curvey, long climb and the speed limit is 55. There are plenty of 15 and 20 mph corners where you can prove your cars worth. My motto is: "if you can't do the time, then don't do the crime."

Good point but if you have your car loaded with gadgets you have an extra warning 1 out of 10 times. you MIGHT be lucky but TBH the only thing my radar dectetor is used for is to look cool and scare the crap out of people who don't know its there! (and we have fixed always on speed cameras here but thats another story)[thumb]

thats actually pretty shitty. i thought the scanner / detector was this universal great thing telling me how far the cop is. say if he was a mile up, it would beep beep beep for me so i can slow down. i din't know it had to be pointed at my detector. shame....i guess thats why street racers get the most tickets....and they use this stuff...

yeah a little biast....im ashamed.

first poll ........ [sing]

That's only if he has his radar on. Cops used to keep the radar turned on so they could rest their finger (i guess), but now they wait till they see YOU, then shoot the radar, which is usually too late for you to slow down.

You could try radar jammers, but most state police use a combination of laser/radar and other technologies (even the good old stop watch method). If you use a radar jammer, and a cop gets a reading of something like 200 mph, he'll just try it again and will get a good reading at some point.

Oh my god...curves for 77 miles...I never thought I would say this, but I want to go to Idaho.
