Hey I was thinking of lowering my 4 door E36 328i. What is the method of going about this? Do I just replace all four springs or do I have to replace the shocks, struts, springs, ...
Any info or suggestions that anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
If you replace the springs you need to replace the struts as well. There are many spring companies to choose from; Dinan, H&R, Eibach, and more. Check with Les Schwab, Bavauto, and maybe even some of our sponsors here.
Ideally you want to replace the dampers at the same time as the springs. How low do you want to go? For a mild drop I suggest getting the Eibach Sport System Kits, this includes springs and dampers. For a more aggressive drop, I suggest going with Bilstein Coilovers.
Im not sure how much I want to drop it down. I drive the car all year round so a drastic drop might be to much for winter driving. But a mild drop might not be noticible. Does anyone have any pics of there cars that have been lowered. I'll take a look at all the brands you suggested.
Thanks for the input
i guess that with a 1-1.5 inches drop you might just need springs for starters. but, lowering the car with springs only will stress the dampers some more and wear them out quicker. if i were you, I´d not go deeper then max 2 inches. that deep the car looks sporty but not wanna be sporty, and of course you still save some comfort while your handling will improve. you might wanna get some shocks that are not too hard. you mentioned that winter driving etc. is an issue. have some shocks you can adjust in stiffness. that way you can make sure to always have the right ride.
