m20 knock

I bought my 83 528e (233,000mi) last month, knowing the engine had a slight knock. Complete tune-up, timing belt, valve adjustment (.012) were all done as soon as I got it home, but the knock is still there. It sounds like only one cylinder/valve is causing the noise, and it is especially loud during moderate acceleration.

My question is: Has anybody else experienced this problem with the eta? If so, please tell me you fixed it without overhauling the top end!

are you sure its not something in the bottom end of the engine?

Fairly certain... The noise changed after a valve adjustment, that's why I think it's in the top end. I'm gonna buy a stethoscope this weekend and see if I can pinpoint where it's coming from. In the #3 cylinder area somewhere.
