Need Expert: Secondary Air System

What do these codes mean?

R5 tool says: 11, F5, F6

Code Tables:

Table 11
F5 "Secondary air system flow too low, Cyl #1-3"
F6 "Secondary air system flow too low, Cyl #4-6"

Is this something I can fix myself? What components are involved? I am getting an loud whining noise from the air pump when the engine is cold. Would this cause these codes?

I do have a good technical knowledge of engines, but my service manual isn't helping!

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Check your air filter, then your mass air flow sensor. You may need a new MAF sensor, or you might want to try cleaning yours.

Hmm, I checked the air filter the other day, didn't look too bad, but I can replace it just in case. I'll look into replacing or cleaning the MAF sensor, thanks! Just seems weird when they say "Secondary air system". the MAF sensor seams like a part of the primary air system. I was considering other components.

Any idea what the air pump is called that turns on when the engine is cold? Mine is located in the upper left side of the engine compartment. I want to replace it becuase it's making a loud noise like the bearing is going out.

Here's a link to a thread on another forum that I found. It's a good DIY on replacing the secondary air pump. Sounds like just what you need.
