I now have a brand spankin new check engine code that has me asking: what the hell is this? The code comes up as 1188. My diagnostic program tells me that it is an 'EOT voltage high' problem.
Well i have searched the Bently manual with no luck. [bash]

Anyone know what the EOT voltage high means? [pray]

Oh yeah, the ethenol in the fuel has given me fuel trim codes 170 and 173 and not better performance/gas milage. Bought some octane booster at Pep Boys and poored in a bottle. Will know tomorrow if that clears those nagging codes.

As always your help is appreciated.

Uhhhh your car requires premium unleaded gasoline, 91 octane or higher. I don't believe they mix ethane with higher octane fuels yet (even though ethanol is around 105 octane). Bad bad bad, no ethanol in bmw's. Octane boosters don't do a damn thing other than cost you money - it's snake oil.

Supposedly the premium only has 10% ethenol. But then since i got my "premium" fuel at the Joint Reserve Base here in Fort Worth anything is possible including having mid grade in the fuel tanks.
Put the fuel additive in the tank last night and Bank 1 fuel trim is good. Bank2 still gives a 173 code but am anticipating it going away soon.

Still would like to know what the fault generating code of 1188 - EOT voltage high, is refurrning to.

It did and thank you. Appreciate your assistance. Will be making a trip up to Michigan in the nest 2 weeks. Will be monitoring its performance.

Yep got a radar jammer. Works here in Texas will see if it works in Yankee land.
