My name is Anthony, new member to the forum. My '92 735iL (170k miles) has a bad steering box. Essentially, it takes more "input" to the steering wheel to keep the car going straight. As you might expect, it is most apparent when there is a slope to the street I am on, and then it drifts as if the car needed an alignment. Of course, on very flat roads, it is pretty much unnoticable.
My mechanic here in cleveland, oh, (who fixes only BMW's) told me to live with it, because it is unlikely to get any worse, and more importantly, the part costs about $2,000 from a BMW dealership.
I am wondering if anyone has a suggestion that would reduce my cost for replacement. I.E.-used part, aftermarket, etc.
