I recently bought a 1991 325ic. Love it? It has 149,000 mi. paid $2900. I figured I can start to learn some stuff here. Its a automatic what should I be prepared to replace? How many miles can I expect to get from her? I need a new top any recommendations on brands etc. any thing else you would like to share would be much appreciated.

Transmission. lol. I hear they go anywhere from 100k-250k; the automatics at least. If the car was properly maintained shouldn't need anything for awhile, besides regular inspections, and oil changes. PLus, if properly maintained can last you well into 200k with not much trouble.
DOn't know anything about the rag-top; sorry can't help you.
Also, I'm pretty sure the 1991 325Ic was an e30; so you may get better help with the rood query posting on that page.
