I have owned this 95 325 IC for 30 days. The noise was first diagnosed as a tire issue. Wrong. A change of tires and the noise is sitll there. I was told it could be the wrong differental fluid because the noise abates when making turns. NOPE, the mechanic oked the fluid and said it was the tires. Any clues?

I would check the entire suspension. Control Arms, ball joint tie rods (these tend to wear on the e36). Also check the strut/shock mounts, and all other suspension components.

It could also be something stuck in your wheel. I once had a twig stuck in my control arm and it would brush against the wheel and make a noise.

You just have to look at everything. Also, it's kind of hard to diagnose without knowing what kind of a noise? Does it increase when you go faster? How much does it abate when you turn? Both ways or just left or right?

The noise actually diminishes slightly when I am on the interstate. It is noisiest around 40 mph. The noise abates when turning left only.
Thank you for the hints

If it diminishes at high speeds I would see if something is touching one of the wheels somewhere. I'd put it on a lift and take my time & inspect everything. I would assume a good mechanic would have spent the time & done it. But you never know.

Try this to see if it is a suspension problem or a driveline (I'd almost guaranty it's a suspension problem, but since your mechanic thought drive line...) While your driving at 40 mph, put the car in neutral see the sound changes at all.

Any other helpful hints that you notice?
