I normally have my oil changed in my '96 328i at my local BMW service shop. I had to get an emissions test recently, and also needed an oil change, so I had them both done at the same place (not a BMW shop).
Here is my question, should they have had to do anything that would change the little maintenance lights (the green.green......yellow.red lights on the dash)?? I don't know a lot about the lights, but I understand they are an indicator of upcoming maintenance needs. But more than just oil changes.
Should they have re-set anything? Can I do it myself if needed (using some of the custom tools and/or paper-clip techniques I've read about)???
Thanks,
rjv
