Oil change

My M3 has 9K miles on it, and I want to get an oil change. The dealer said I don't need one until the 12K mark. Any opinions on that?

I really feel that it needs one, and I will probably have to pay for it, but that's not the point.

I know that the synthetic oil doesn't require as many oil changes, but I feel that the car is begging me to get it done.

Your dealer is correct regarding BMW's policy, however like many of us here we change the oil at about 7500 miles ourselves, than let the stealer do it at the service indicator mark.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it 15000 miles OR once per year?

On a side note, do it yourself. Changing the oil on my mine is easier than any other car I've owned.

Yes you are correct, and they are easy aren't they!
The only point of caution is that if you use the alternating oil/beer method. This method requires you to consume 1 beer for every qt of oil your car does.
But these things take so much oil you'll be confussing oil with beer by the end. [drinking]
