This picture shows the guibo (transmission flex disk) and a rear coil spring from my 94 325i with 130K miles. The guibo is cracked, this is a typical wear item. The spring broke when my daughter spun when we were Autocrossing.

You might want to take a look at these or ask your mechanic to check them the next time your car is in for service.....

Nice kirby, even my e30 springs weren't that rusted - but my friend's e36 springs are! How is your center support bearing?

That's still awesome, how in the world did you get that to grab her interest?

That rubber part removed from the differential was removed from my 92 e36 right around 200k miles. it looked like a rat had it for dessert. sorry to hear about your springs man. the way i look at it, if a bmw breaks and it's non mechanical, count your lucky stars.

After I got the driveshaft out, I decided to replace the center bearing & bracket. It seemed felt fairly smooth rotating, but I did detect a bit of slop as though the race was a bit worn. For $50, it was a no-brainer to replace it now and not have to do it in a year or two.

My daughter has always had an interest in cars in general, and when she was younger we played a lot of racing games, especially the Twisted Metal series, Need for Speed, etc. Now we do it for real. Well, hopefully not the Twisted Metal part!

Hmm... I just replaced a broken spring on my Aunts 94 325is, and it was broken in almost the exact same spot as yours. She didn't spin or anything, but she lives on a farm in the country with lots of nice pot holes... funny how her upper shock mounts looked fine though.
