They look a lot like a wheel sold by Les Schwab years ago called a Hawkenhiemer or something like that. Who sells them and who makes them? I do not mind their looks.

I was at BMW of Towson the other day picking up some fuel injector cleaner and while I was waiting to pay I saw a book for the 2004 rims. I was thumbing through it and these really caught my eye. And it said that it would fit a E36 (except M3). There price per wheel was over 500, so I went looking online. I found replica rims that did not give a name, and I also saw BBS brand ones identical to these....so to answer your question, I'm not sure who makes them. I think BBS makes them.

Here's another question, are there any problems with buying replica rims? Is it better to pay the extra for name brand when it comes to wheels?

Replica are alright, naturally the more you spend the better quality your going to get, to some degree! Have you tried Discoount tire and the Tire Rack? They both have interactive systems that let you look at the wheels on your car. Try them, they are great.

I tried tire rack and they didn't have the rim, nor the right color. Although, as I was leaving BMW I saw a white 97 3XXIs with these wheels and it looked elegant, not necessarily sporty, but very refined. I'll try Discoun tire now, thanks!

I'll take any and all opinions. My car is the dark blue color; I currently have the stock 15" rims that came on Is's.

Thanks. Sean
Yeah, I feel you on the stock bottle caps. I've been looking to get rid of mine over a year now. BTW I like those rims.

I'd rock those in a heartbeat. About perfect for the E36 to update the look. They're almost the rims that I would buy. I'd recommend buying the BBS if you can afford it, though.

Thanks for the picture stupenal.

I think I'm definitely going to get those rims now. You're right, it does make the E36 look newer and updated.

How much was it for your set?

They are $340 each at tirerack. 18" runs at $383. A bit steep but you do get BBS quality and racing heritage. If you are going for the multispoke look - you can get the ASA AR1 - its almost exactly the same in design and it runs for $179 or something cheap like that. I don't know about the quality but if you're careful with your wheels then its okay.

Tghe BBS RX is actually silver - but the paint on mine kind of lost its shine so it looks really dirty.
