Performance to my 97 is 1.9l

hey all im new to the boards and glad to be here im the proud new owner of a 318is hellrot red i bought it stock and have done a few things to it

angeleyes with black backround as well as the m3 corner lights black
foglights
clear side markers
clear tails oem
oem spoiler with led
and deck and speakers

im gunna post up pictures soon but this post is for other reasons im looking at getting some performance modifications for my 318is to make it faster im wondering what i could do to dramatically inpromve performance and hp so far i have thought of exhaust a cold air intake headers and a chip but thats only gunna be pushing 190hp a best i want more than that what are some other options i have to improve hp?

You 1.9 liter is a fine engine but you are never going to "dramatically improve" the horsepower. The items you suggest are good ideas and will cause your car to run better, the only way I can think to really boost the HP and I do not suggest it is a turbocharger.

thank you for the introduction :)

so why would you not recomend getiing a turbo kit?
and i am never gunna be able to do much to a v4 huh :(

It's an I4 not a V4. While the "mods" you suggest are good places to get started, keep in mind that an aftermarket header will add little to nothing as far as power goes since your car came with a header from the factory. You'll never get 190 naturally aspirated.

I am not trying to discourage you, simply put the e36 318 is not a "hot rod". You'd be better off selling that car and getting an e30 318is, as they are better "performance" cars, manily because they are lighter and handle better. That said if your going to sell and want more power get a 325is.
