Radio Deck Problems

Hey all!

My radio on my 96 328i will work sometimes...and sometimes it wont. Anyone else have this problem? If I smack the dash above the radio deck it will come back on about half those times.
It often will go back out again within 5-10 minutes. I want to take the deck out and see if the wiring to the antenae is loose and perhaps solve that problem. The LCD panel read out for my radio is also out and I would like to replace that somehow. This is my problem...the tool needed to un-fasten the deck is some wierd tool I have never seen before. Anyone know where I can get one?

P.S. Has anyone with a 96 328i Found a after market radio/CD/CASSETTE deck that is compatible and can connect to the stock BMW 6 disc cd changer?[???1]

Thanks!!

its a blaupunkt. dont expect much, now days at least. their older stuff used to be worth buying. it isnt worth fixing, try looking on ebay for someone that is selling one. i might sell my stock hu to you, i have a Nakamichi CD-400 coming in the mail wednesday, but i havent decided if i want to sell my stock hu or not. if you want a good aftermarket HU, look at nakamichi for excelent quality as well as a stock looking head unit. they have in dash cd changers, ie the mb-100. you can try looking on ebay for a used one, or just buy a new one from your dealer. if its 8 years old, other parts will wear out soon too, dont fix it.

you wont find any head units compatible with a stock bmw changer, the manufacturers do this on purpose. each unit is made specifiacally to interact with a specific unit, harnesses cant change any of that. SOME manufacturers like pioneer do make generic changers that will work with any unit, but they dont do the opposite.
