radio displays "phone"

More on this strange radio. The display reads "phone". I have removed the radio, let it sit for a few min.
put it back in, entered the code and it flashes the radio station very quickly then displays "phone"
Does anybody have any idea what causes this? I called a dealer and they have never heard of this before.
Should I contact Alpine? Thanks for any help. Don

A few years ago, when I ran a stereo store and installed car stereos and cell phones, I found that some premium radios had an input sense wire that muted the radio if the cell phone rang. It sounds like that's what's happening here. If there is a phone sense wire on the radio and it's found a way to ground itself, the symptom you describe would occur.

Thanks, I will remove it again and see if I can find any wires or pins that are loose or grounded.
