Radio illumination is dim

I was wondering if anyone can help me on fixing the illumination on my radio, sometimes it is dim and sometimes it is fine. I did read an article already posted on the forum about the circuit solder being cracked. I am trying to remove my radio and not exactly sure how the whole thing comes out? Do you just unplug the parts that are there and what about the unit in the back with all the wires, does that just pull out as well? HELP!!

In an E36 you just need to pull the radio out of the slot and unplug the antenna and other cables, that´s it. there is no more behind it, so i don´t know what exactly you are refering to.

That's all I needed to know for now. I was just having a hard time pulling the plug out with all the wires connected.

Make sure you have the radio code befor take it out from the car ... for mine it's pretty easy , you need a screwdriver to un-screw the 2 bolts , they may be covered with small plastic caps

yep, but it´s two torx screws. an allen key will do the job.
